Yeah, he calls her Ditzy or Assistant.

Also considering this is only episode two, there's a chance that they may use the name Derpy at some point (perhaps as a nickname).

Actually you can hear one of the jock ponies call her Derpy in the fourth episode, and Doctor Whooves makes a comment about how cute it sounds, but he sticks with Ditzy.

I see. Have the third and fourth episodes been animated yet? I know they do the audio first.

Oh, looks like there's a fifth audio episode! And they just only finished the second episode not too long ago. :P

I see. I did a quick check on the sound of one of them, but I will mostly wait for the animated version.

Why does everyone choose Derpy to be the assistant anyway? Is it simply because she was the first background pony to become famous?

Derpy needs a strait man to reach full comedic critical mass IMO. It's not a fault, I just think her character works better playing off someone.\

In other news, the 4/2 Aviation Brony Triathlon team took 2nd. We got hustled hard by some borderline-pros trying to get publicity for their triathlon-specific clothing company. We stomped the third place team by 17 minutes though, so I'm cool with losing to the pros.
