Well she didn't necessarily say it had to be current popular music. I assume there is also a possibility that small children would not get musical references irrespective of the era.

Yeah. This may have been pointed out earlier, but during the scene in "Putting your hoof down" where Fluttershy finally sees how much of a monster she turned out to be, the music playing is similar to the music that plays during the ending of the Incredible Hulk show, The Lonely Man.

Nothing scores higher than the three (or two, as one is more may be just open to interpretation) Final Fantasy references we've seen so far. Of course, I'm kind of biased to the FF series. Can't imagine why...
PS: Sorry NorthernChaosGod I almost missed your reply. Yeah, I guess, but I guess it depends on what kind of music the kids listens too (ever since I was a kid, I always liked a really wide variety) not I'm not trying to argue, I just don't think that all kids only like things from "now" if that makes sense.
Eh? Maybe my fanboy is slipping, but I've caught zero references to FF. Fill me in?
Don't forget the David Bowie Reference.
From the most likley to be a refferences to the least likley;
1. The classic Phoenix Summon animation being shown in Dragon Quest - kind of funny really, you name the episode after one RPG, and use the animation from another.
2. There is a Final Fantasy VIII magic sound effect several times when magic is used. The first time on record being when Twilight "picks up" Spike with magic in Fluttershy's scene in episode one.
3. This is probably a coincidence, but the final scene where the elements are revealed to Luna and they stop her had a Final Fantasy "last boss" feel to it.
Do you mean there being an episode called Diamond Dogs? If so, I totally got that the first go.![]()
The episode was 'A Dog and Pony Show' but the dogs were The Diamond Dogs.
And finally watched the new episode. On a whole I don't think the episode is amazing, but it does have a lot of the minor details I love about this show.
I immidiately caught Rarity's new hair, but only because every murder mystery has a classy lady with that hair style. And I'll spoiler the rest for those who haven't seen it.
(SPOILER)I should have guessed it was those three right away in foresight. I immidately thought the first shadow was Rainbow, Rarity had the evil lady hair style, and the main was clearly fluttershy's. I knew all of these things, yet for some reason I in no way pieced it together.
The only thing I didn't like was Big Mac struggling with the cake. The guy who dragged to Oxen and a cart of Anvils with no issues what so ever.
The smurf is in that cake?
But yes, very pleasent episode. I loved the hat Shenanigans too.![]()
Oh that's right - silly me.![]()
Yeah, I enjoyed this episode though there were ones I liked better, I could have done without the scene at the end the other chefs had food on random places though, for some reason it didn't look right in a Friendship is Magic episode.
Agree on Big Mac though, in every other episode he's implied to be pretty strong. Also I think I heard somewhere that strength is the Earth Pony's main advantage.
Unicorn's Advantage = Magic
Earth Pony's Advantage = Strength
Pegasis's Advantage = Flight
Alicorn Advantage = All three I guess.![]()
I'm pretty sure that Big Mac struggling with the cake is just Rule of Funny, guize.
That's what his niece calls him.
I didn't enjoy this episode as much as I thought I would. I gotta tell you, if that cake really weighs enough to slow down Big Mac, then Futtershy, Dashie and Rarity are going to gain a ton of weight.
