Allergies!

It's that time of year again-- when allergies start hitting me hard! I spend my days in a continual state of sneezing and having-a-runny-nose, and half the time I've got a tissue stuffed up my nostrils.

I think it's because I'm allergic to pretty much anything that grows outside. I went to an allergy specialist a few years back and underwent some tests; according to the doctor I am allergic to "all grasses, all trees, all weeds, and all molds" that I was tested for. I was especially allergic to timothy hay-- which I've got a stockpile of to feed to my guinea pig, go figure.

On the plus side, I am not allergic to a single animal, which is excellent, because I'm going to have a menagerie someday when I have actually got my own place!

Anyways, does anyone else share my pain? *pops a Zyrtec*

And basically all kinds of evil pollen. I'm fine around flowers, but ragweed can go to hell.

I have some sort of generic plant allergy that I didn't notice until I moved to Florida. It's not bad enough to bog me down though, just makes me sneeze a lot, and makes my nose itch so much I look like a coke addict for scratching it all the time.

I'm not supposed to have allergies but I'm starting to see empirical evidence that allergy 'immunity' is just different levels of susceptibility to symptoms. For example I visited my friend who had a bunny a doggy and a kitty, and while usually that shouldn't bother me in the least, by the first night I was dying.

So I dropped some claritin and was awesome possum.

I've something of an allergy involving grass, but it only tends to kick in when the weather is very hot and someone decides to mow their lawn. It seems to only hit me once or twice during the Summer, though. Plus I take tablets before I go out if I'm due to spend more than a couple of hours outside on a hot day.

My mom has diabetes, and my dad has allergies to a number of things. Including being deathly allergic to bees and fire ants.

I have none of it. I am a lucky dude.

I get pretty bad allergies to animal hair but otherwise I usually do alright.

I'm also allergic to a handful of medications :o Such as penicillin. Which is probably related to my mold allergy, actually.

My girlfriend is allergic to penicillin. Finding that out was... interesting.

Having allergies really sucks. Even during fall and winter I always have itchy eyes and a stuffy nose.

Tried all types of medicine for it. Regular allergy pills, like the ones you find at Walgreens, just knock me out. Claritin makes my nose bleed. Zyrtec? Ha. Might as well just take an aspirin; it has the same effect.

Only things I haven't tried yet are Allegra and allergy shots, but I'm thinking it'll be the same result.

It made my entire face puff up and look awful. At least, that's how I remember it, it was about twenty years ago :o

I feel your pain; Zyrtec seems to be less and less helpful for me as time goes on, and yeah, something like Benedryl puts me right to sleep as well, which I learned the hard way when I tried taking some during a particularly bad episode at work once... (fun fact I discovered later: Benedryl and Tylenol PM share the exact same ingredient.)

I'd love to look into allergy shots at some point but they're expensive! :x

I'm allergic to Rye and Bermuda grasses. As for medical allergies, Ibuprofen, Advil, and Aspirin. Doctor told me yesterday that he's going to set up an appointment for me to get a desensitization treatment that way I wont die if I ever take that stuff. x.x

She had a rash and welts and swelling all over, it was terrible! That's why I just avoid taking anything.
