Default moments that make you go UGH

Just to clarify, I am not a FFXIII hater. It isn't my favorite, but I liked it enough to buy it after having played it at my moms... a year later and with a 69.75% price drop (I'm practicing my math ) I respect the characters, as I would be a horrible character in that game. ''So I can get turned to crystal, turn into a mindless zombie, or get killed...these are my options????? *Despair*. But their are quite a few moments that make me go UGH....

Most recently: I am in Chapter 7 with Snow and Hope and Snow says to Hope something along the lines of 'we're going to have to walk from here.' (Not exact wording) and I was like REALLY Snow? Is that not what I (Hope) have been doing this whole time? Or are you refering to the 5 minutes max I spent on that big machine, the two minutes on that hover bike thing and the 12 seconds on that flying device that you just wrecked? Out of HOURS of gameplay. But NOW we're gonna have to walk. Just stop talking Snow -.-

Also, the moment with those angry villagers where the man said 'Yeah, you'd better run!' .... Does it LOOK like I'm running friend? You wanna GO?!? Which of course is not what Snow said, but whatever.

Are there any moments in the game just make you kinda shake your head and go UGH?

    **Also,
There was an awesome dog in that scene in Bodhum where Snow was looking for Serah, and the dog did tricks. What happened to awesome-trick-doing-dog? Did he get purged? Do dogs get purged? Did his owner get purged, leaving him homeless to starve to death? Or did he go to a shelter, only to have no one adopt him and have him put down? Oh the HUMANITY !!!!!!

    That is all

I try to sit back and take it for the melodrama popcorn it is. I didn't ugh too much until the ending. That was a clustersmurf as the game desperately tried to claw itself out of a grave.

Pretty much anytime Hope, Lightning, or Vanille talked was an Ugh experience for me. Between Hope wussing out or giving sappy friendship speeches, to Vanille doing her incredibly obvious "I KNOW THE TROOTH BUT I AM GOING TO HIDE IT BY PRETENDING I'M CWAZY KAWAII JAILBAIT!!!" which only the game's cast is too stupid to not pick up on, and Lightning's constant bitchy "I'm a snarky Badass!" dialogue as though she has to constantly prove that just because she's a chick, she has to say or do something badass every-time she's on the screen cause obviously no one writes bad ass chicks in popular media.

I also agree that the entire ending was pretty Ugh as well and I almost want to play XIII-2 to see how their going to add onto that awful Deus Ex Machina.

I ughed every time I failed to avoid a battle in Orphan's Cradle. The three roles for each characters were maxed and I didn't want to up their other roles, saving the CP for maxing their main roles in the post-game first. And the fights took SO LONG.

And both times getting instant KO'd by Orphan.

    And so many more...

Pretty much everytime when I came to a place I liked, like a city with no battles and enemies, but then the big TV screen turns on and the news lady (or someone else...) says dangerous l'cie did this and that and I have to start running forward and fight, again... ugh

Actually I did like the battle system and all... I just got a bit fed up sometimes

Hope's speech. If you don't know what I'm talking about yet, you will when it comes.

As for "UGH", Vanille does it enough on her own.

As for the topic, this whole game is an UGH moment to me.

Lightning punching her allies. I dont know if I can think of any hero, movie or game, who punches their own allies. Absolutely absurd. At first it seems cool, yeah, but then you realize how much of an idiot and hot head she is for doing it. I kinda wish Fang got up and whooped her azz. Also Lightning explaining why she chose the "codename". I wanted to be strong for Sara! LAME. Worst reason ever. Claire is a much better name then the B movie quality name "Lightning".

    Yes, that's number 1.

Battle animations. When Snow's Ravager and throws a lot of spells, he just raises his arms enthusiastically one at a time while swaying his torso from side to side. DID THEY REALLY MAKE IT SUCH A SIMPLISTIC ANIMATION!? In FFVII, Cloud lifts up his sword, twirls it about his head, places it on his back, throws his fists out in front of them, pulls them back in, in almost an "air-hump" gesture, throws them back out, pulls them back in, and casts it! How much thought do you think Square had to put in to coming up with that kind of choreography and animation? Regardless of the amount, let's cut back to snow raising his arms going "ha! ha! ha! haaaaaa!" No... just no.

The stalemates. I felt like so many of the boss battles were wars of attrition. Basically pounding on each other relentlessly just to finally get that stagger and nail down just a small percent of their health during the stagger phase, only to do it again. This is not a good battle system! It's ironic that the game in the series with the biggest production values has possibly the least cinematic fight scenes! To get back to FFVII, Cloud vs. Rufus was CINEMATIC. They fought on a smurfing roof top and every slash, Every shot, EVERY spell cast in that fight meant life or death for the combatants. At the end of the fight, the President of the corporation flies off holding the rope ladder from a helicopter. THAT'S HOW YOU MAKE YOUR FIGHTS CINEMATIC!!! FFXIIIs boss fights were just drawn out, boring stalemates with an inevitable victory at the end of the buffering.

The final boss. (SPOILER)Really? The whole game they're talking about overcoming their destiny, not falling for Barthandalus' tricks, fighting for their own purpose, and refusing to let others dictate their fate. So after Barthandelus spends the entire game trying to get them to kill Orpahn theyyyyyyyy....................... try to kill Orphan. I guess there's only one question about that: Why?

HD Blobs. I blame the constantly moving camera for this. There's a reason why amidst all the the camera movements, VII-X (and XII let you) all had fixed cameras - so you can actually see and appreciate how well designed the characters and monsters are. They were cool! But in so many battles in FFXIII I'm like 'What exactly am I fighting here? What is this? Is this based on some fantasy archetype? Was this ever in the FF series?' It's pretty obvious what I'm looking at - an HD Blob. It may kinda resemble a wolf, it may kinda resemble a plant, but at the end of the day, all it is is a jumbled mess of pixels in high definition. That's not good design.

That said I really didn't have problems with the characters. Vanille was maybe the exception, but only in the beginning where it's like 'serious, trick, what the hell kinda accent are you going for here!?' Other than all that, great game!
