I think I've said before that I think this distinguishing between internet dating and LDR is mostly a bunch of trout. I guess if there is any difference, you could say that an LDR is just the more established-might-have-meet-up-a-few-times version of the internet date.
very rarely have I ever heard of people dating online with absolutely no intention to meet up and stay in close physical proximity for the long haul. Maybe kids do that, but they're weird anyway. No, strike that, I was a kid internet dating, and I still dreamed for and longed for the day I'd get to meet my internet boyfriend (which never happened, but hey, we're facebook friends now)
the term "internet dating" can probably be relegated to the neologism graveyard, with the advent in comm tech in the last decade. With my first internet boyfriend, postal service was slow and sketchy, digital cameras still rare, long distance (let alone international) phone calls expensive, and texting was a few years off from being a verb.
nowadays, what internet relationship could dispense with any of those? But aren't those the same ways that people who didn't meet online and may have once lived together but for some reason have to be separate for a time use to keep in touch with their families? The only difference is where you meet them (which is yardie's topic, but that is long gone now imo)
anyway, all I really want to say now is if you think you don't internet date, you're right, but not for the reason you think.

LDR not my style but at the same time I'm a pretty cold hearted bastard so I could bugger off from my significant other and probably not give two trouts.
It definitely isn't me. I've had 5-6 (depending on whether you count the 'relationship' with Kath which lasted "officially" for about four days before we agreed that being boyfriend/girlfriend was weird and we should stop) girlfriends from EoFF but have only met three of them and have only "boinked" two. I'm very certain that a dozen or so of the members here have equalled or increased on that number.
My guesses are probably about as accurate as Roogle's, but I'll keep them to myself.
