Ratatouille

Pixar rocks. Everybody knows this, but in my opinion, one of their highest peaks were Ratatouille. I just bought the Blu-ray, and I plan on feasting my eyes upon it once again.

Kindly share your thoughts about Ratatouille.

Not among my favorite Pixar movies but it was still a good movie. Other than the Cars franchise, Pixar has never failed to make their movies wonderful and endearing. Best line of Ratatouille: 'If I don't like it, I don't swallow.'

I think my top 5 Pixar movies would go:

1. Toy Story 3
2. The Incredibles
3. Wall-E
4. Up
5. Monsters Inc.

I've never seen up or monsters inc - I think I boycotted them for reasons I can't explain.

I liked Ratatouille because it's silly and has to do with cuisine - it's like the pixar people wanted to make a movie to cash in on the 'iron chef' craze in America. In terms of pixar movies my favourite is the incredibles.

I loved Ratatouille, and the scene where (SPOILER)Anton Ego eats the meal they've prepared for him and remembers his childhood is just brilliant. No dialogue needed at all.

As for ranking Pixar films, with the exception of Cars (I won't see Cars 2 probably) and maybe A Bug's Life it's like going from amazing to just plain great, but I'd put Toy Story 2 on top, followed closely by Toy Story and The Incredibles.

I think I might be the only person on earth (*wink*) who actually rates Cars as being one of their absolutely best. Not my number #1 choice, but it's the Pixar movie I have seen the most times.

Here's how I rank their movies so far:

01. Ratatouille
In my humble opinion, this is the cream of the crop.

02. Toy Story 2
This one is very close to being number one on my list.

03. Cars
For some reason, this is the Pixar movie I have seen the most times.

04. Up
This one without a doubt has the best soundtrack. Also, the first ten minutes are some of the most stirring and touching ever created.

05. Toy Story
A timeless classic that holds many wonderful childhood memories. I love the Sega Genisis/Drive game, by the way.

06. Toy Story 3
Didn't think this third entry was going to be anywhere near as good as its predecessors. It nearly surpassed them both...

07. Monsters, Inc.
Cute, funny, and quite frankly a little disturbing.

08. Finding Nemo
Touching story about love, determination, and water.

09. WALL-E
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVE!!!

10. The Incredibles
To be quite honest, I wasn't too overly crazy about the Incredibles. Well, except for Edna Mode, which is the most disturbing character they have ever created.

11. A Bug's Life
This movie's blandness 'bugs' me to be honest.

Ratatouille is a wonderfully delightful movie. I enjoyed it very much because it's a movie about the impossible, in a sense. First, we have a rat who wants to become a chef, and he befriends a bumbling goofball who works at a fancy restaurant while also using him for his cause. Meanwhile, the kid is trying to impress a co-worker while also winning her in the process. So, yeah... I liked it a lot.

I agree. Ratatouille was great (love Patton Oswalt), but I think Monsters, Inc tops my list.

I have a really hard time picking favorites with Pixar. I think I have to give it to Monsters, Inc. Mostly because of the brilliance of making a thoroughly engaging plot and storyline that all unfolds pretty much in one spot. I dunno, I just think that's really hard to do and thus I have to give them massive props for that.

I've also got to confess: a.) I like Cars (haven't seen the sequel) and b.) Finding Nemo underwhelmed me at first but the more I watch it, the more it grows on me, and it just might be my second favorite.

It's a close call though. If I made a Pixar tier list they'd just all wind up in God-tier.

I liked it. I think Pixar's main point of the movie was to encourage kids to try more food though.

This is my favorite Pixar film and with the sequels of Toy Story 3, Cars 2 and soon Monsters Inc. 2, I hope they do not go and make a sequel to this one. It isn't that I think it would be bad but a big part of the charm I don't think would have nearly the same impact on a second go. The chemistry of the characters is fantastic and it is even more impressive considering that the two protagonists cannot converse with dialog.

I think my favorite part of the movie has to be the monologue at the end by Anton Ego. It is executed perfectly by Peter O'Toole against the backdrop of Remy finally finding his place in life between the two worlds he has been struggling with.
