one end of the cord is USB, the other end that plugs into the actual phone is not. I'm just pissed off at how thoughtless he is. I TOLD him that he could not use that cord for something else but he did what the frig he wanted to anyway then disappears for 2 nights in a row. I don't know if your phone has a mini usb jack for charging, but when that happens to me I'll usually use a regular usb cable to plug it into my computer. You could use your computer as an alarm clock...but that would require keeping it on all night
