I think the VC spot is for when your captain is injured/unable to play or something so the captaincy transfers to the VC and they get the double points instead

Dan has it correct. If the captain doesn't play for any reason, the vice captain gets doubled points instead.
The riots are probably going to cause some games to be cancelled. I'm wondering if I should be changing my team around or not. I'll wait until just before the deadline to see how this affects things, but I'm guessing that it'll be a case of "certain games might not go ahead and you will miss out on points if you don't adapt accordingly".

I can't entirely decide how happy with that I am. Kinda regret not playing last year as it made the picks a bit harder this time around. It feels like sacrilege having more Liverpool players than Everton ones, but alas. I used to have Reina in there relatively consistently but I was a bit cheap with my keepers this time around.
Edit: As I posted in the other thread, the only game to be postponed, apparently is Spurs v. Everton. Which I am obviously thrilled by, as it means our inevitably disappointing start to the season will be delayed temporarily! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14485169.stm
Not my words Carol, the words of Top Gear magazine.
Gonna make a better stab at this thing this season!
My final team choices (starting team):
GK: Given (Aston Villa) - I think he is bound to keep clean sheets & the odd bonus points.
DF: Lescott (Man City) - He will start every game and he can score goals.
DF: Richards (Man City) - Might get the odd goal, & City are up against Swansea at home on the opening gameweek.
DF: Luiz (Chelsea) - Chelsea have easy fixtures to start off with.
MD: Lampard (Chelsea) - ^
MD: Hoolahan (Norwich) - Good player
MD: Taarabt (QPR) - Should be this years Charlie Adam
MD: Ireland (Aston Villa) - I think he'll return to form
FD: Rooney (Man United) - Season of his life
FD: Bent (Aston Villa) - Easy fixtures for AV
FD: Campbell (QPR) - Bargain for 5.5M
Subs:
GK: De Vries (Wolves) - I think he is starting
DF: Simpson (Newcastle) - Cheap, might keep the odd clean sheet
DF: Brown (Sunderland) - He'll do well I think
MD: Sinclair (Swansea) - I think he'll be great this year, but away for Man City first game means he's on the bench
I dropped Ba because I don't think he will get the service this year. This will more than likely change again by the time 11:30 PM roll's around tomorrow.
So.. with Enrique going to the Reds, I currently have four Liverpool players. When does that have to chance? By tomorrow or before next weekend?
Take care all.
'sup Donal? xD
My team will look to shuffle a bit after the site stopped people from logging in. I would have made more changes if not for that. =| Not pleased, Premier League Fantasy Football! Oh well, it's a decent side anyway and Roberts got an assist.
GK: Hart (Man City) - Solid keeper.
DF: Vidic (Man Utd) - Should start every game he's fit for, at least for now. Rio's more likely to be the one who will be replaced by the younger defenders we have.
DF: Luiz (Chelsea) - Can't believe how cheap he was, because he's fantastic and should play regularly this season. Injured right now, though, but I have good backup defenders.
DF: Hangeland (Fulham) - He or Brown will probably play depending on who they are against.
MF: Tiote (Newcastle) - Liked the look of him last season so hopefully he'll carry on, but now they have Obertan I'm not so sure who will play more over the season... still, he's cheap.
MF: N'Zogbia (Villa) - Should do well, wingers always do well with Villa... right?
MF: Nani (Man Utd) - SAF has said he's a starter for the coming weeks and he's in form. Easy points, I hope. Captain.
MF: Park (Man Utd) - Might change this, but for points per game, he's amazing. It's just how often he plays that's the problem.
MF: Emerton (Blackburn) - Playing Wolves. Thought they'd be more likely to get goals. Didn't work out.
ST: Roberts (Blackburn) - But this guy got an assist, so yay!
ST: Suarez (Liverpool) - In until Hernandez is getting regular minutes.
Subs
GK: Al-Habsi (Wigan) - Not sure on this one, really. Think I'll change it to Gordon once Gordon is fit.
DF: Distin (Everton) - Backup but still solid and has done me well in previous seasons.
DF: Brown (Sunderland) - With regular minutes, I'm sure he'll do well.
ST: Ba (Newcastle) - I'm not mental, I'm just Loony.

Top of the league after Week 1 Will I stay there? I doubt it
Silva & Aguero have just become this season's must have fantasy football accessory.
there was a picture here
Just joined the EoFF league, and I've already played my wildcard after seeing Aguero last night. Some player.
No wildcard needed as transfers are still unlimited due to the downtime last week.
I scored lowest last week and have made some wholesale changes. The changes are in green...
GK - Hart (Man City)
GK - Ruddy (Norwich)
DF - Luiz (Chelsea)
DF - Smalling (Man United)
DF - Fabio (Man United)
DF - Brown (Sunderland)
DF - Cahill (Bolton)
MF - N'Zogbia (Villa)
MF - Cahill (Everton)
MF - Nani (Man United)
MF - Silva (Man City)
MF - Tiote (Newcastle)
ST - Suarez (Liverpool)
ST - Fletcher (Wolves)
ST - Johnson (Fulham)
The strikers I'm not particularly happy with, but they were dirt cheap and allowed me to massively boost my midfield. That was also aided by going for a slightly cheaper backup keeper and downgrading my expensive defenders (Fabio & Smalling should probably play this week with Rio/Vidic/Rafael/Evra all injured or just coming back from injury). For my choice of strikers, I admittedly chose the two which scored goals last week and are now facing each other... so here's hoping that game is a proper goalfest.
Aguero still not in my team because of the strikers at City's disposal. Outside of Silva, I just don't see any attacking player that is a "likely start" for City.
It's insanely difficult trying to pick who out of Nani and Young I should have in my team. I really hope Nani plays well this weekend.
Bow before the mighty Javoo!
My changes are:
GK - Given (Aston Villa)
GK - Ruddy (Norwich)
DF - A Cole (Chelsea)
DF - Jose Enrique (Liverpool)
DF - S Taylor (Newcastle)
DF - Lescott (Man City)
DF - Senderos (Fulham)
MD - Taarabt (QPR)
MD - Moses (Wigan)
MD - Sinclair (Swansea)
MD - Brunt (West Brom)
MD - Ramsey (Arsenal)
ST - Rooney (Man United)
ST - Bent (Aston Villa)
ST - Torres (Chelsea)
Sort of overhauled my defense. Gabbidon is of course no-where to be seen after he got me -2 . Keeping faith with Taarabt & the cheap boys in midfield however.
smurf me, Donal. Rooney, Bent and Torres? How much did that little lot set you back haha?
GK - Hart (Man City)
GK - Al-Habsi (Wigan)
DF - Hangeland (Fulham)
DF - Cashley (Chelsea)
DF - Cahill (Bolton)
DF - Distin (Everton)
DF - Figueroa (Wigan)
MF - N'Zogbia (Villa)
MF - Barton (Newcastle)
MF - Brunt (West Brom)
MF - Silva (Man City)
MF - Muamba (Bolton)
ST - Suarez (Liverpool)
ST - Aguero (City)
ST - Lita (Swansea)
Made a few changes, toyed with the idea of dropping Cashley to get a better midfielder but there was no one to justify it in the price range, Cashley is generally always good value. Got rid of Charlie Adam for Dave Silva, swapped Bent for Suarez for the South American strikeforce tag team of doom, dropped Ameobi and put Lita in for an extra point, swapped Nigel De Jong for Brunt and switched around some injured backup players.
