Great Quake

I was probably way out of range of the earthquakes today, but I was in Chile during an Earhquake. It scared me to death. The walls felt like they were wobbling. I felt like I was inside a card house, and that the building I was in would topple just as easily. It only lasted a few moments, but it was terrifying.
Apparently, however, people are so used to it down there that nobody was impressed by anything except my apparently over-the-top reaction.
So... Anticlimactic end to that story.
(SPOILER)What I meant o say is that the ground shoved against itself, buildings toppled over and debris floated off into the ocean. I was the only survivor, but not after chewing off both of my legs in an effort to escape the wreckage and crawling to the US embassy, where they gave me a new set of legs in exchange for my secret technology.

I was in my office elevator while it happened and it was frightening because it shook a lot and the elevator wouldn't open for a few seconds. The office lamps and windows shook too, but it was nothing major. I'm just 45 minutes outside of Manhattan as a better picture of how far away I am from Virginia.

So did anyone actually panic over this? Because I thought there were just cautionary evacuations and some people going "huh there was an earthquake where I live, I was startled for a moment!" xD

I don't know if the quake was actually serious anywhere but evacuations seems like a bit of an over reaction xD

My dad's workplace was evacuated and all the workers were sent home. Pretty silly if you ask me.

I saw on the news that someone was having a party while this was going on and the floor collapsed and all of them fell into the basement.

In Washington State we're due for another Earthquake. Last bad earthquake was in 2001 I was in Middle School everyone was evacuated from the building, it was a M 6.7... The traffic was crazy in town, it took awhile to get home. Live in a 1907 built house so old it has Thomas Edison two way wiring. The walls had some cracks but not much damage.
