Not really sure why people compare vikings and pirates. I mean, sure, they both like boats, but that's around the point that the similarity ends. Vikings attack villages, pirates attack boats. Vikings made use of fire, melée and primitive ranged weapons. Pirates made use of cannons and guns. Vikings, today, live all around the world and are rather peaceful. Pirates, today, steal oil tankers and hold them to ransom.

EDIT: Pirates also steal music and video games. To be fair, I think vikings might host the website the pirates use.
