Found this old review from way back in 2000, has some fun tidbits of info. I must say, its kind of funny reading this roundtable interview and looking at the state of the series now.

True beauty exists in things that last only for a moment.
Current Mood: And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe. Maybe this year will be better than the last. I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself. To hold on to these moments as they pass...
That was a very interesting read. Certainly some good points that you see evident in future titles, the online and voice acting aspects particularly. I did pick a few choice quotes that I enjoyed though. I forgot to note who said what but you'll get the idea.Q: There always seems to be a progression toward more active battles, how do you envisage RPG battles happening in the future?
A: This is a difficult question. If you come up with an interesting idea, please tell me. Thank you.Classified I don't know why they haven't made sword chucks legit though.Q: Is there an underlying concept behind combining items like a sword and a gun to create something new? Is it something you see happening now, or in the future, through technology?
A: That's classified.
Yep, he pulls all the chicks. You go, Uemmatsu baby!Uematsu: I receive more fan mail from the females.
I've got something better. Much, much better.
In all seriousness, the ending to FF9 changed seven times? Really? And the best they could do was to create a deus ex machina "villain" that was never even alluded to in Gaia's or Terra's mythology, completely delegitimized the plot villain, had no development or motive, and flat-out plagiarized Yoda? And not just Yoda, but Yoda from the worst SW movie as of that point? Really?
I didn't mind Necron (who certainly doesn't delegitimise Kuja), people make way too much of a fuss over him, as if an extra boss wrecks the whole game - and he does the line way better than Yoda!
Plus the FFIX ending is brilliant, so whatever their changes (I bet one of their suggested endings had Quina as the evil mastermind behind everything) they went with the right choice in the end.
"Excuse me Miss, do you like pineapple?"
From what they were saying, I don't think it was Necron that was necessarily changed seven times. The ending FMV, I imagine, and all the deal with Vivi etc.
I always figured revisions were normal. Then again, I'm not a writer
Revisions are normal.
