I'm a little ways in and so far I like it a lot better than Persona 1. I am actually interested in the plot! One thing I do not like about Persona 1 and Persona 2 is that every single goddamn place is a maze. This is also true of the Persona 3 and 4 dungeons, but it was relevant to the plot, they were much less obnoxious, and the whole high school simulator aspect gives you a break here and there. As I'm playing I'm just like, "well yeah generic dungeon maze thing nothing out of the ordinary here" but then I go into the record store and god damn it why is this place a demon infested five story maze?! I just wanted to buy some CDs and talk to the radio DJs! Oh okay they're escorting one of my party members to the concert ground at the park? Oh I see it on my map, it is just a few feet away from the park that should be a shor--WHY IS THE PARK A MAZE AND WHY DO THESE SEWER GRATES BURN ME. I DO NOT RECALL A RUMOR ABOUT HOW THE PARK WAS LAVA AND REALLY DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE. I mean seriously, why make me go through a two hour maze for a two minute cutscene that is not especially awesome and no boss fight?!

That's actually what typical MegaTen dungeon design is. Course Persona 2 has the rumor system that makes the maze thing seem normal. Going through Tsumi, I really feel like the Persona team looked at this game when making P4 cause I feel the casts have several similarities. Its been a blast so far, I hope Eternal Punishment gets a PSP port as well.

Really? The Persona series are the only MegaTen games I've played. It's just bothers me that in the school you get "there's this rumor going around that if you go into the basement you can't find the exit!" and then "hey let's all go to the totally normal every day park" puts me in a maze xD

Just be grateful the game doesn't make you backtrack like P1 did. Keep an eye out for special rumors about certain monsters appearing in dungeons, they give you good things and they are usually completely bizarre and funny.

Finally beat it, only because I had absolutely nothing else I could do last weekend without actually being productive. I still feel the same way about the gameplay, but the story was interesting enough that I didn't mind it if I had nothing better to do, and I'm ready to jump into the sequel again. One question though about the Personas given by the plot: (SPOILER)I never got an "upgraded" Persona for Lisa. I got Apollo, Artemis, etc., but Lisa was still stuck with Pyro Jack after the chat with Philemon. Is this because my stock was full (it was indeed full) or did I miss some kind of flag?

(SPOILER)You probably missed the key item that makes it. You need the Pink Argus Mask to make her ultimate Persona Venus.
