Are you really arguing about graphics based on resolution? Here's a nice startling fact for you, none of the games people hail as looking so damn good on either the PS3 or 360 run at a native resolution higher than 720p. Both essentially use hardware upscaling to reach 1080p. The only difference as I understand it is that Sony left the hardware upscaling as an option for developers to use or not at their discretion.

But really, resolution is such a small part of the graphics equation, and like all the other parts, dependant on proper optimization that arguing about which is superior based solely on that is silly, especially based on multiplatform titles.

If we're going to judge each system on their ability to output at a native resolution of 1080p then they both suck more than GTA4 did (just to get it back on topic. ).
and also, I was joking.

But honestly I am a bit surprised at MILF's comments on the graphics, considering I don't think the trailer really looked all that great. We had 3 big PC developers debut their brand new engines on consoles this year (Crytek's Cry Engine 3 with Crysis 2, id's id tech 5 with Rage, and DICE's Frostbite 2 with Battlefield 3), not to mention the Witcher 2 on PC, Gears of War 3 on Xbox 360 and Killzone 3 on PlayStation 3. There's a lot of incredible looking games coming out in this day and age, defying all logic with how they're able to continuously push the boundaries of now 5 and 6 year old consoles.

But I don't think an update of GTA IV's engine is going to be one of them.
