question: Do people still play FF 11?

I'm looking for a great and fun online mmorpg to play,and found Final Fantasy XI. I was thrilled by all the things it had to offer,until I read a post about it on the internet dated from last year. It said that the game has closed down.

Is it true? Is Final Fantasy 11 no longer available for online playing?

That is not true. FFXI is still alive and well. It will be hard to get into it as a new player at this point, though, since most of the players now are veterans and focus on endgame content. Not impossible, however.

Sheesh looks like it still has a lot of servers for an older MMO too. It takes years to kill off an MMO that was once largely popular though. 1999's Everquest still has 12-14 servers. I'd be a little intimidated to start from scratch at his point though. If it's like most of the others, 95% of the population is at cap and the wee new little guy will have a long solo journey ahead of them.
