    Seriously. I really hate this about nearly all modern games. What's the point of all the updated, realistic, painstakingly rendered graphics if you can't even communicate trout to the player without flashing lights and arrow pointers.

    I like the environments that are in the wild. The civilised ones look very dull. Too much 'standard' architecture, too clean. But still alright when in the more modernised ones, and I'm sure the towns will end up different to each other enough to make it interesting.
    You mean the way FFXIII's locations all had distinct, recognizable layouts to keep everything from becoming tiresome? Sorry, easy joke.

    This! And also the fact that everytime something happens, the game feels the need to reassure you with text i.e. the way 'cinematic action', 'anomaly resolved', 'live trigger' etc flash up on screen! This only serves to make the game less immersive and more gimmicky/led by the leash, I feel.

    It's why I love how Elder Scroll games have couriers who come and find you to deliver missions. That's far more realistic and avoids any need for crap like that.
