It still seems weird to me, that Square Enix owns the rights to Tomb Raider now.

We've been doing this thread for a while now, but I'm still so impressed with the staying power of Final Fantasy VII-IX. I know PSOne Classics probably isn't the hottest selling section of the PSN Store, but I hope Square and others take note of just how many people still want to play these three games.

    VII-VIII is three games?
My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. He's had chronic issues and lifetime troubles that have really crippled his career opportunities, and he's trying to get enough funding to get back to a stable medical situation. If you like his content, please support his GoFundMe, or even just contribute to his Patreon.

He can really use a hand with this, and any support you can offer is appreciated.

    You have FF VII.

Then you have FF VIII, the horrible game they released.

Then you have FF VIII, the version that got released by fluke the people who claim this is a good game got by complete mistake.

    March 2013
    PS3 & PSN Games
    5) Tomb Raider
    18) Deus Ex: Human Revolution
They published Quantum Conundrum, but they did not develop it. It's not what I would call 'their game', unlike Tomb Raider and Deus Ex which were indeed developed by Square-Enix.

While yes, that is true. I look for SE games in the broader sense (including published games)

Not true. They didn't develop Tomb Raider or Deus Ex. Square Enix just acts as publishers to them since they bought Eidos back in 2009. Deus Ex was developed by Eidos Montreal and Tomb Raider was by Crystal Dynamics.

    ...

Um okay, they OWN Eidos (which includes all studio that were under Eidos). Like it or not, Eidos Montreal, Crystal Dynamic and IO Interactive are all Square Enix developer Studios. Same way Enix dev's were folded into Square (i know i know that was a merger).

Eidos Interactive - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Eidos Interactive Ltd. (pron.: /ˈaɪdɒs/ EYE-doss), was a British video game publisher and has been replaced by Square Enix Europe."

"Although Square Enix said earlier that it would let Eidos Interactive remain as it is currently and not meddle in its internal affairs,[18] it has stopped publishing games under the Eidos brand, with new games coming out under the Square Enix brand instead. Currently the Eidos Interactive logo only appears for games developed by former Eidos-owned game studios."

Except Deus Ex was Eidos Montreal BoB (which also still exists)

Montreal's a fair ways away from Europe!

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a cyberpunk-themed action role-playing video game developed by Eidos Montreal and published by Square Enix

Um okay, they OWN Eidos (which includes all studio that were under Eidos). Like it or not, Eidos Montreal, Crystal Dynamic and IO Interactive are all Square Enix developer Studios. Same way Enix dev's were folded into Square (i know i know that was a merger).
There's a big difference between being the developer of a game and the publisher of a game which is what Shoeberto was getting at.

Christ I really did just get involved in one of these arguments of semantics I so loathe...

Eidos Montreal is still part of SE Europe. Don't take the "Europe" part literally.

Eidos Montreal is a Canadian video game development studio owned by Square Enix Europe, a subsidiary of Square Enix.

So, very different from Quantum Conundrum, which was developed by Airtight Games, which are independent of Square Enix.

Yup, so to make sure I've understood you - what you're saying is that you consider Tomb Raider and DXHR to be Square Enix's games because they own the companies who made them - despite not actually developing those games themselves directly - whereas Quantum Conundrum isn't where they don't own the developer who made it?
