I can't wait to see Radagast the Brown. It'll also be interesting how much time the film will devote to the White Council and Necromancer stuff and how they weave those threads together with the Smaug plot. Some hardcore fans will certainly not be pleased by the additions to the concise plot, but I'll be fine with that as long as the scenes don't end up like the Black Ships and Aragorn diplomacy fiascos from RotK Extended Edition.
The Hobbit also provides Howard Shore the perfect opportunity to rectify one of the few flaws of his LotR soundtracks; namely the dwarven themes. The trilogy understandably couldn't really develop the dwarf material in the soundtrack, so the dwarves in this installment should finally allow Shore to flex his creative muscles and explore the sturdy culture of those beer-loving axe-swingers. Judging from the trailer's memorable use of the dwarven song, Shore's already doing a good job adapting Tolkien's material into the score.![]()
