FFT, mainly because the plot is compelling and more palatable for adults. The strategy element is a lot of fun, and combined with the job system, it offers a lot of opportunity for variety.

FFVII is my fav cuz it took my FF virginity, and its the best ever. Then I went on to X, X-2, XII, CC, XIII, and currently playing II.

My favorite would have to be Final Fantasy XII, especially the International Zodiac Job System version. I know many people disagree, but I really enjoyed the non-linear approach it had, even if the game got a bit repetitive at times.

Though my name suggests otherwise, Final fantasy 9 really remains my favorite. I still say FF7 had the best materia system, FF9 brought the roots together with a great story and remains the game I go back to time after time.
