There is this wide misconception that diet soda is somehow not as bad for you as regular soda, but this is only true in any meaningful sense if one is diabetic and cannot tolerate the regular sugar. The artificial sweeteners in diet soda are not exactly healthy, and diet sodas still have all of the rest of the crap in it as regular sodas. If one is trying to drink healthy things, then one is best off not drinking any kind of soda; otherwise, you might as well drink the soda you like best, just while recognizing how bad it is for you.

Regular Coke is my soda of choice. I used to drink a troutton of it in my middle teens until my doctor told me just how unhealthy that was, and then I stopped. Soda was only a rare treat for me for years until late nights at law school made me start drinking it again, but I still only drink maybe 2-3 a week on average.
