What you can't see is that just to the right of the camera is there is a sniper positioned on top of the train with a rifle aimed directly at his forehead. If the train guy takes one step away from his post... BAM.

This man has needed to urinate for eighteen years. Nothing can shake him.

Unfortunately for train guy, the sniper has remained committed to his post until the release of the HD remake of FF7, which is totally coming in the near future.

EDIT: Which is very weird now that I think about it. Not the guy being a jerk. The Wutai War they were talking about. In Crisis Core, the Shinra had no real difficulty when First Class SOLDIERS were in the battle field. Hell, Second Class SOLDIERS as well, since (SPOILER)Zack is that rank at that point in the game.

I guess regular grunts have a much greater chance of being KIA, but if a couple of high ranking people easily mopped the floor with ninja land, then why not just outsource the war to them?

Now that's a point I didn't consider. He did stay at that train station even when the plate was about to fall. He's a damn loyal Shinra worker.

Because cpr procedures in this universe are insane and unlikely to work. Cmon one breath at the top of your lungs for a young girl with no chest compressions? I think the guy saw the woman helping her and figured she mightve had a spare potion or something and there was nothing he could do.
