    Default SCP-087, Which, and Hide

Sometimes I enjoy playing short, one man team games that are meant to frighten you or make you feel uncomfortable. I'm not sure how many of you may have heard of these games, but I think they are worth a look, especially since all of them can be obtained for free and take no time at all to download. Here are three games I have played in recent months that I liked.

    SCP-087
    DOWNLOAD: SCP.zip
I wouldn't really say this one is a game. This is more like an interactive experience. SCP-087 is set to simulate one of the many stories from The SCP Foundation

Explaining anything about the game will spoil it for you, so for those of you who don't care or whatever, the rest of the game's explanation is beyond the upcoming spoiler tag. However, I highly recommend that you play the game before reading the spoiler. Though I would totally understand if you got bored. If that happens, feel free to read on!

(SPOILER) In this "game" you decent a dark stairwell that is impossibly endless. Every time you load the game the subtle events (mainly audio) are randomly generated every time you play. There really is no way to "win." As I said, this game is mainly to support the story it is based off of (found here: SCP-087 - The SCP Foundation). I think if you are in the right circumstances in real life (like the typical set up of being alone in a dimly lit room with headphones on) the experience can be fun if you like to be scared like I do by pure atmosphere. Plus, you can then make your friends play it! Extra fun if they are easily frightened!

For you REALLY impatient people, just go to the last 15 seconds of this vid to find out the inevitable conclusion no matter what: SCP-087 - YouTube

    Which
DOWNLOAD: Which - A Freeware Adventure Game | Game Jolt

This is a short first person puzzle game that has you solving a bizarre mystery. Mainly getting hell out of a house! With an element comparable to the Weeping Angles in Dr. Who, I enjoyed being sufficiently weirded out. Again, I can't go into this too much without spoiling things, mainly how to solve it, but I will say that there are two ways of completing the game. Additional info can be found on the download link.
    _________________________________________________________

    Hide
DOWNLOAD(first post): Super Friendship Club • Justice Pageant - Hide [ DONE ]

Don't read the thread in the download link if you want to go into this one fresh. Made to look like a real low tech first person adventure, which I think adds to the atmosphere, Hide is a game where you must explore a decent sized map while finding clues before you get caught by...well...spoilers for those of you who want to go in fresh: (SPOILER)You pretty much play as an escaped prisoner running away from very unsettling sounding authority figures.

Anyway, I am not going to ramble on how any of these are the game of the year. I just think they are pretty interesting short, but sweet experiences that is free to try out. Of course once you know what there is to know about any of these games, most of the fun is gone, but I am still glad I came across them. I recommend you try at least one of them, especially if you like games that give off a creepy vibe!

I got SCP two days ago and only made it to the 16th floor. Can't do it. Cool to see what people are doing with the Unity engine though.

Agreed. I hear you on SCP-087 though. I braved it, but I moved real hesitantly. I played it again today and just ran for fun though.

Okay so I'm familiar with SCPs and SCP 87 is one of the only stories that legitimately scared me. (I also hate SCP 173, fyi.) I downloaded the game, turned the sound completely off, played with the worst graphics and still only got down one set of stairs before I shut it off.

    because nope nope nope.

Then I watched the video Sephex linked and now I'm going to cry myself to sleep.

Glad you enjoyed it. You guys should check out the other games though. SCP is probably the creepiest, but the other ones are more fun to figure out. Since you don't really figure out anything in SCP, lol.

I love the SCP stories so this was great fun. Thanks for posting it. Once I started to get into the 20's and the noises became more smurfed up it was a bit harder to want to proceed! I didn't hear a crying child though. I'll check out the other two now.

    edit: Neither work for me.

Well, I read the documents associated with SCP-087.

Probably not gonna be able to sleep, but it's cool.
