The colored sugar gives it a nice crunch. Plus you can bite off their heads.

When I was little, I would eat a troutton of Peeps. I've since lost the taste for them. They're still good, but I would prefer other candy.
Speaking of, Easter is a time of Reese's Peanut Butter eggs; any space in an Easter basket not taken up by those eggs is space that is wasted.
I also feel some weird satisfying feeling when I bite the heads off of peeps.
A coworker just saw me type that on my lunch break, and she briskly walked away.
I actually still have some reindeer Peeps from Christmas. I should eat those.
I once misplaced a box of peeps. When I found them a few months later they were like sugar-coated rocks.
Fortunately, it seems, I have never had the pleasure of munching on Peeps.
I tried them once.
They actually made my teeth hurt.
It's part of their charm.
