After Sony and Nintendo had their little tiff, Square decided to go with the PSX because it was a far more workable system. Would be interesting to see how things might've developed had VII ended up on the 64.
It'd be interesting, indeed. I feel like it's better utilized on the PSX with the vastness of the game, but the graphics (for their time) would've been a lot better.

I've got a full collection of 'Super Play' magazines from the SNES era and there are loads of articles on FFVII for the N64 in there. Suffice to say there would be NO-ONE disappointed that it wasn't on the N64.
EDIT: What the hell is Shadow doing in these shots? It looks like he's dancing an extremely camp 60's jive.

I would love to have a truly in-depth behind the scenes chronicle of the development of FFVII, depicting how much was developed on the N64 and how much of the Xenogears script was integrated into the game.
