Top Secret Square-Enix Game Teaser Released

Square Enix's "secret" new game just had a trailer released.

Check out the trailer on the Square Enix Japanese site.

It seems like it might be a final fantasy related game seeing as it has a crystal, a prominent theme in the FF series, floating in the background. Apparently, according to some sources, the teaser says the phrases 7 days of meteorites, crystal and summons. Pictures and text mention common Final Fantasy summons such as Diablos, Titan, and Odin. This gives credence to the FF theory.

Yusuke Naora who is the art director of Final Fantasy Type-0, and Suikoden Tierkreis artist Masaki Hirooka have been linked to the unnamed game. There hasn't been any word on what the game may be called but it has been slated a 2012 release date.

Well the tagline is "C' is coming" and Squeenix have registered the domain name Crystal Conquest. Looks like that's a high contender for the game name. Could well turn out to be a mobile or DS game by the looks of it though

The game may be part of the Crystal Chronicles series, for what that's worth. I can't make myself too excited over it yet, though I never played the other CC games.

Wow, the person who wrote the article you linked to jumped to some huge conclusions based on absolutely nothing. They think it could be Crystal Chronicles game because... there hasn't been one in a while? By that same logic it could be a Mana game. Or a Chrono game.

They also reference the summons... which have never appeared in a Crystal Chronicles game. Not to mention the art style looks extremely UN-Crystal Chronicles.

It's most definitely NOT a Crystal Chronicles game.

As someone mentioned, Squeenix trademarked "Crystal Conquest" so my guess is this will be yet another FF RTS perhaps specifically designed for the iOS/Android.

Turns out it IS Crystal Conquest and it's a browser based MMO Strategy game for Yahoo! Japan.



The goal, of course, is to steal the other teams crystal. The matches can go up to 20 vs 20. You can work together and summon your own monsters! Neat. 10,000 players will have a chance on April 10th to try out it's alpha.

Hence the "may" and "for what that's worth" qualifications. I also saw some speculation that it could be a FFT sequel, which was even more far-fetched.

Anyway, it turns out this is a browser-based game for Yahoo Games.
