Default FFVI Save state wanted for emulator

    Hi there

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but I've been playing FFVI on the psx emulator, a game which I do own.

My computer was backed up and returned to factory settings, when I went to restore my files, my games and save states were gone.
I'm desperate to find a save state that'll save me starting again.
I just entered the world of ruin, after the ridiculous battle in the air with a machine gun ship thing, after jumping off the airship.
Anything close-ish to this would be great, I'd appreciate any help.
Sorry if this breaks any forum rules, I'm not too sure

Gotta be honest here. Save states are miracles for NES emulators, SNES emulators, and Genesis emulators. They let you save without actually having to use an in-game save, which can often save you a lot of aggravation.

However, in the case of PSX emulators, save states are (more often than not) a bad thing. I have seen so many help topics on other forums about games getting buggy and crashing and all other kinds of issues, only to discover that loading from a save state is the root of their problem.

I can't say for sure that you would run into that problem, but if you did happen upon a save state and then discovered your game was unplayable, then you didn't really gain anything. So, my advice to you, sucky though it may be, is to just start over.

Ah that's fair enough I guess. Since posting, I may have been lucky enough to find a copy of my memory cards on a usb drive, but I haven't tested it.
I'd rather not play even further in, just to come across further problems, so thanks for the advice.

You should just switch to the SNES version. There's probably a save somewhere out there right at the start of the World of Ruin or something.

This /\ is a save file for the SNES version at the start of the World of Ruin.

As an aside, I made a mod of this game. Here's the patch, along with the patching utility, if you'd like to try it.

    What does your mod modify?

Yay! My memory card files failed me, so I'm relieved to see this! Thanks so much Spooniest, and everyone else for your advice!
    I'll go try it now

I added a dash button, rewrote the dialogue, changed item/spell/monster names, fixed a bunch of annoying bugs and put back in the graphics censored out of the Japanese version.

Did you know that Mog's cave dance is misspelled in the original US version? There's no such thing as a "Requium."

Also, the difficulty is largely unchanged. There's only one boss I decided needed to be pumped up, and I'll let you guess which one it was.
