Okay, I'll be a man and admit that Glen Johnson and Andy Carroll had good games last night. It's still the first time I've seen Johnson play well for England though.

It was a game between two teams who play very similar football (I had a 60 quid payout on 2-2), and while the second half was exciting, it was only because the teams were continually making mistakes and turning over possession. England want to play nice pass and move football, but they don't have the ball control. I still think they do better playing the way they did than playing hoofball though.

Hart has to be one of the better keepers in the tournament, he absolutely bossed his area in that game. Just never looks like making a mistake. Lescott did well enough to cover up Terry's laboured performance, I think he's past it but there aren't any replacement centre backs (Phil Jones is trout). Gerrard is rolling back the years with his performances so far, I think the captaincy as upped his game. Parker played well but he just looks like he is going to get injured at any moment.

Milner and Young (especially Milner) had horrorshows. The difference being I think Young will bounce back in the next game, Milner won't. The simple decision here is to just play Walcott/Chamberlain in his place, but I don't trust Glen Johnson to stay in position and guard the right side of the pitch without wandering forward, which is what Milner was there to cover for.

England just have to hope they face Croatia in the next round (should they get there), Spain will turn them inside out.
