Moogle This is the real reason that FFIX rocks!

More moogles than you shake a pom pom at! :mog:

One of my favorite things about FFIX was always that Moogles were such a big part of the games world. I love that they brought back Moogle tutorials and Mognet was a cute and ingenious side quest. I'm almost surprised that the cast didn't get a moogle party member. Yeah, they are part of what makes me love this game so this is a thread about why moogles in FFIX are awesome.

Oh I thought this thread was going to be dedicated to me

I liked that they DIDN'T get a moogle party member. I think that would have ruined the whimsical air about the moogles in the game. They'd go from these traveling gossip fiends into creatures that can fight and are possibly deadly o.o I'd like to keep them cute and gossipy.

Love the moogles in FFIX. Having them as save points - stroke of genius.

I hated in Pandemonium when no more moogles.

Also loved the use of Moogles.

Something FFIX doesn't really get credit for is that while it was a throwback to earlier FF games, it still had a fresh feeling. Also, I get annoyed at people who say they hated the super deformed look, but the Lego characters from FFVII get a pass. I loved FFVII too, but damn people, get your priorities straight! [/minirant]

Seeing Mog pull that big save-book out of nowhere always brought a grin to my face. How can you not love IX's moogles?

Love them moogles, they are my favorite ones, so that's why I exclusively draw those moogles. Kupo anyone?

Lay off me about the wings, this is three years old or something.

FFIX rocks because for all of it's fun and playfulness, it carries a surprisingly dark story. Probably the darkest in it's era of FF games, really. I mean, you fight Death at the end

I always thought Necron was something similar to the essence of the Void, like Dark Cloud. He even says something along the lines of "I have always been and always will be" and that he wants to return the world to nothingness.

He very well could represent the void, I mean, the rest of FFIX is riddled with references to previous games, so why not the final boss.

That's exactly it. FFIX is a throwback game. The sudden final boss is a throwback to the earlier back in terms of introducing the REAL final boss at the end of the game.

I'd played the NES FFs via the magic of emulation by the time I played this one (being a PAL gamer used to suck like that) so all the references to them really made me smile.

Then I played FF6 and had mad fanboy squealing when the moogles made their first appearance in that particular one. Especially when there were eleven of them and I was controlling them all.
