    FFXIV Character

    Mirage Askai (Sargatanas)

    Default

Basically, current world gets smurfed up, and those who are playing now are sort of living near the end of days (except we don't really know it). I guess it will be sort of like FF6's WoB/WoR thing, except that the new world won't be as messed up as WoR is. It won't be dying, I guess, just very different.

It is "kind of" the same game, but at the same time it will be very different. You'll be in the same world, with the same races, most of the same places, but the graphics engine, story, and gameplay will be different. The "current" FF14 world will become sort of the lore and backstory of the new world.

Personally, I'm imagining that something strange will happen to our current characters, story wise. For example that the screen fades to white after some epic battle or something, and that we wake up in FF14v2 a few years later (story-wise), which would explain all the changes to the world.

That's... pretty awesome, admittedly. It almost makes me wish I was playing FFXIV right now, but I don't have a computer that could possibly play it, and no job to pay for the monthly fee. I'll watch all the story scenes online for sure, though, so that I can get the references if I play FFXIV 2.0 on the PS3.

The more I see of what's going on with FFXIV now, the more I want to play.

So, is anyone else kind of excited for the Manthras? That alone should be the seller for 2.0, right?

I'll stay a female mi'qote, but I know a few girls who totally want to change to male.

I'm debating between Lalafell and Male Miqo'te... if I ever get this game, that is.

I doubt I would play as Hyur, but ultimately it depends on the available hairstyles.

Omfg that looks gorgeous! My f**king video card fails after like 5 seconds of playing any high-end PC game. I don't have the cash to get a new one or replace it. *sigh* I guess I just have to wait for the PS3 version. Totally pumped to get back into it!
@LB On Sargatanas, is 'Fat Chocobos' still the group?

Aye, Fat Chocobos is still in existence. We've played with a number of people lately and I'm thinking of adding them all to either my Aiyon shell or Fat Chocobos as a few of them have been pretty social and great to play with. It remains to be seen whether any of them would care to join a linkshell, though.

Hey BoB, is it worth jumping into this game now before 2.0 launches?

You're asking someone who really, really likes the game, so I'm gonna say yes. I think it's easily worth the money considering it's around half the cost of FFXI. Perhaps importantly if you are considering being a long term player (which is normal for an MMO, I guess?) you will want to sign up before 30th June, as if you sign up after that date you will miss the chance to become a Legacy member. If you sign up after an upcoming patch, you'll also miss the chance to get the Goobbue mount.

So far most people I know that have been returning to FFXIV have enjoyed it, but some are still not going to like it. In the end, at a cost of £6.89 (or the American equivalent) for one month just to try it out and see if it's worth it for you, I'd say you're better off joining now to hopefully get Legacy and save yourself some money over the long term than waiting until 2.0.

What, no. It isn't half the cost of FF11. It's around 80% the cost of FF11, and +3 dollars for each new character.

As far as I'm concerned, only come back if you're ready to deal with a bulltit UI and market system, and want to see the story before the (SPOILER)world ends! or something like that.

Oh, I thought it was something like £6.89 and £11.99, I probably got my currencies confused somewhere. Still, not a bad price!
