I did, actually! There are quite a few hidden things like this around the place. I don't know if the guide books tell us anything but I feel like we really should be given more of an explanation!
It's the little touches like this that I miss. New games just don't have the same subtlety, the world isn't thought of as a whole. /whining
I always thought what was that thing when Aeris was chased in the church.
I really didn't think there was anything left of this game to surprise me. However, I always took it for granted that this thing was some giant pipe. I never played it very often from the beginning. I usually just picked up from a save point after leaving Midgar. Then I stopped playing altogether until I wanted to remember the story to write up my own version of the script.
Jack: How do you know?
Will: It's more of a feeling really.
Jack: Well, that's not scientific. Feeling isn't knowing. Feeling is believing. If you believe it, you can't know because there's no knowing what you believe. Then again, no one should believe what they know either. Once you know anything that anything becomes unbelievable if only by virtue of the fact you now... know it. You know?
Will: No.
If Demolition Man were remade today
Huxley: What's wrong? You broke contact.
Spartan: Contact? I didn't even touch you.
Huxley: Don't you want to make love?
Spartan: Is that what you call this? Why don't we just do it the old-fashioned way?
Huxley: NO!
Spartan: Whoa! Okay, calm down.
Huxley: Don't tell me to calm down!
Spartan: What's gotten into you? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't me.
Huxley: Physical relations in the way of intercourse are no longer acceptable John Spartan.
Spartan: What? Why the hell not?
Huxley: It's the law, John. And for your information, the very idea that you suggested it makes me feel personally violated.
Spartan: Wait a minute... violated? Huxley what the hell are you accusing me of here?
Huxley: You need to leave, John.
Spartan: But Huxley.
Huxley: Get out!
Moments later Spartan is arrested for "violating" Huxley.
By the way, that's called satire. Get over it.
There was some information about the previous rocket crashing into Midgar, but I forget where. Crisis Core might elaborate further but I'm not sure.
Huh... the things you never notice (well, I never notice) despite playing it about 30 times. I think because of the fairly low resolution of it, I never really picked up on it being anything in particular, just a part of the weird junk that is all over the slums.
Good lord, I always wondered what the heck that thing was. I'm glad someone put it together!
