Welcome to the desolate little tithole that is the Writer’s Corner. This once popular section of the forums has slowly decayed into a filthy, decadent pit of cigar smoke and bad haircuts. Formerly a shiny bastion of RPs, fanfics of varying quality and original pieces alike, the bulk of threads these days are by members who fail to realise or try to ignore the fact that their work will see little light couped up in this broken board of forgotten dreams. A revolution needs to happen down there friends, if we are to salvage what was once great and restore it to former glory. We need to head out in force and read, read read, then write, write, write and share all our works without fear of reprisal, ridicule or rejection!

Even its neighbouring forum, Relm’s Studio, has undergone renovations in the past, but it too suffers from the same dedicated artists supplying us with artwork that we do not see, do not feel. Certainly, though, it sees greater traffic; and why shouldn’t it? Art is easier to glance at, a smaller investment for greater aesthetic award. Art has depth, too, but it is not as dense as the written word, and so many view our literary haven as tl;dr and avoid it like the plague. That saddens me, but I am not without fault. Though poetry is the most common form of post within ye olde Writer’s Corner, that is no fault of the contributors. Certainly, each writer has his or her own preferences, and I lack the skills and appreciation of poetry. However, my contributions in the form of prose have also been sorely lacking; something I hope to rectify in the near future. Perhaps, even, I might secure myself a nomination for the next Ciddies, like the ones of yore.

They say the pen is mightier than the sword, yet we seem to lack the strength required to burst free of these chains of mere subsistence. These writers are all talented in their own way, with each excelling in a completely different form of writing. Will we be able to thrive under their guidance, or will more warriors need to take up their implements and create a brand new world for us all?

I remember a time when this speech was written by Psychotic, DK and Rantz. It was an awesome speech where three heavily underqualified men sat down and discussed artwork by the nominees with some kind of false air of dignity. Imagine, if you will, three hooligans sat around a table in a swanky gentlemen's club. They just seemed out of place, but wasn't it just the best concept ever. I yearn for those times, my friends, I yearn for them.

Instead, now, you have me, a man with even less artistic talent or knowledge then the three buffoons and very little ideas on how to approach this venture. If I were more enthused, I might attempt to round up some buffoons of my own and recreate the speeches from yore. Sadly, I have not the time, effort or buffoons necessary. Perhaps next Ciddies I will attempt this. I have considered critiquing the work myself, but feel that I am so uneducated on the nature of art that it would be an insult to these fine artists. I was given strange looks the other day for talking about why I don't understand modern art. Yes, I'm that idiot who goes to art galleries and says "I don't get it."

Instead, I have opted for something a little bit simpler. The Ciddies is a time of excitement, of mayhem. Everything is going fast, high energy. Sometimes you just need to take a break, relax and enjoy yourself. So here, play this song while you just sit and enjoy the artwork of these talented folks.
