Recognized Members attain their title through hard work and tireless contributions to Eyes on Final Fantasy. Their dedication is not enough to be rewarded with a staff position though. Is that because they’re not good enough? Not popular enough? Or was it just bad timing and there was no need for new staff members? Those aren’t questions that will be answered during this speech. In any case, the Recognized Members nominated for this award must be currently active and are most likely continuing whatever fantastic things they were doing to get their title in the first place. You rock on, Recognized Members.
Former Staff is kind of a bollocks title. I know that some people like it. At the very least the title is an alright colour, so I can tolerate it. But it’s awarded to people following the end of their contributions. It’s a “thank you” for services, but you’re no longer required. Pretty harsh. Former Staff are the old dogs who can’t learn any new tricks, and the tricks we do know are no longer up to scratch. What could we possibly have to offer that warrants nomination for this award? Surely if we were still doing good tit we’d be offered another spot on staff, right? In before “Jiro’s just butthurt about not being on staff.” It’s a legitimate question.
At the end of the day, it feels like an arbitrary category. Better to have a category for best events host or something of the sort, whatever contribution it is that brought us to this position in the first place. Regardless, for all my suggestions, there is still one glaring point that we have not drawn attention to yet. This award – despite the nominations, despite everything – belongs to the one and only Agent Proto. There is not a man here who, after departing the position of Cid’s Knight, has continued to provide fun and entertainment to Eyes on Final Fantasy. Without detracting from the other nominees, we all need to recognize that Agent Proto is a badass and his continued support is something we should be grateful for. And should you all be perfectly idiotic and award this to someone else, at least I’ve taken this opportunity to publically acknowledge him.CramRock it, Proto.
