I can understand where he's coming from on some level because if the letter of the law says that it doesn't need intent or awareness of the other player then it's a red... but then, if that's the case, every held shirt, every high foot, every overhead kick, etc. etc. etc. should also be an instant card and never a caution, but this never, ever happens. The problem is not neccessarily with the ref, but with the rules and how drastically they can differ between game and nation. It's really frustrating.
I knew before the game that we could have gone out tonight, I felt it 50/50. It didn't go our way in the end, but seriously, the ref just ruined the game at that moment for me. It's a real shame.
Oh, and as for Keane, while I can understand where he's coming from, it's no secret that Keane always tries to make some kind of rebel-esque statement so people take notice of him. Sometimes I like what he says, but even in those cases it tends to be something the rest of the world will disagree with, so...![]()
