There's a new generation of Liverpool fans like me who think 3rd and a League Cup is a past glory.
That does put it into perspective a little, I suppose.
My earliest experiences as a Utd fan were in the late 80's where we were particularly trout. But for the past 20 years I have been in dreamland as far as success goes. This new-found mediocrity does not sit well with me at all. I'm not sure I have the capacity to cope with it.
Cue 5 years from now. I'll be sat in a padded room next to a cardboard cut-out of Sir Alex whilst furiously pleasuring myself over a video of Kevin Keegan's famous rant in 1996 with tears streaming down my face. I'm quietly muttering to myself in near-unintelligible English, things like "...and Solskjaer has won it...... a wonderful run from Giggs......seagulls...trawler..."
