If there's no monthly fee, I may give this a try.

Square Enix reckons they're going to have ten years worth of DLC and expansions for the game too which is rather impressive from the outset. Given the success of Final Fantasy XI, it wouldn't be a stretch to see it happening, but they want to make sure they're keeping people immersed if they're willing to delete inactive accounts after three months. Seems a little counter productive when compared with their whole "we're not going to consume your life" policy from the start.

I'll eat my keyboard if this game is still going strong in 2022.

Given Japan's love of DQ, I could see it happening.

I'm going to hold you to this. Granted, we might not have keyboards in 10 years, but I will make you eat something similar.

You perfectly described my exact problem with MMOs. Add to that I realized most of what I was doing was "rinse, repeat" with no real point and I pretty much just miss having a real story. You know... I like the concept of unique experiences in an MMO (like some supposedly offered in WoW, but especially the fictional "The World" in .hack) but the few I've ever heard of require money. For a free online game, I don't ever like having to shell out cash for extras. For a monthly fee game, paying extra for a "unique experience" is just complete bullsh.

    What were talking about again?
