    Default Acts of God

My fellow Southern California EoFFers will have just felt that earthquake.

What "acts of God" have you experienced? I've always lived in Southern California so I've felt plenty of earthquakes. That's pretty much it though... I think I'd loose my mind if I saw a tornado.

I honestly dont know if i can call this an act of god but i have dodged a few bullets in my day. My Step mom has a summer home a few towns from where i lived and for the last 3 years or so there was a gas leak in the home (which she didn't know about till a month ago and got it fixed). What kinda bugs me about this whole thing is that the place could have exploded at any given time while we were staying out there especially on the nights that we had to light the furnace by hand.

EDIT: For some reason there was no gas smell coming from the place. It has its own unique smell to it.

I remember there was an earthquke in the UK a few years ago. This activity is EXTREMELY rare over here so it was very strange. I was actually asleep and I vaguely remember feeling like someone was shaking the bed. My girlfriend at the time freaked out apparantly and tried to wake me up. Though I sleep too deeply to be affected by something so minor as a tectonic plate shift.

Yeah, like a 4.4 out of Yorba Linda. It was stronger than I've felt in awhile, though it only knocked down one of my Evangelion figures.

Despite living in Illinois, I have felt a couple of earthquakes. The last time I felt one was about 8 years ago. I happened to be up late and living with my parents at the time. I was on the family computer late at night and I thought I heard something fall over in my room. All of a sudden all local people on my AIM (remember, 8 years ago) contacted each other and we were discussing the minor tremor. Even back then Google was quick to yield information on it!

Despite living in possibly the least geologically active place in the world we've had a couple of earthquakes here.

And I've never felt a single one. It's quite disappointing actually. The only stuff I've had to deal with are tropical storms and blizzards (full on ice storms being the worst) and those are a pain in the ass because they last for hours at the very least, and in the latter case, require me to shovel the driveway.

I've felt an earthquake before? Been way too close to several tornadoes now. Urmmmmmmm that's about it.

I've felt earthquakes and seen tornadoes. Do wildfires started by lightning strikes count? I've seen plenty of those, as well as wildfires started by stupidity.

I've weathered some category 1 or 2 hurricanes but that's about it. Tornadoes always seem to strike a town just after I move out of them, so I haven't had to deal with those!

I remember one tropical storm that left us with a nasty flood. My aunt took my grandpa's kayak down to the convenience store because she wanted milk.

I once walked past a gay wedding, and right as the happy couple walked out among their admiring friends and family, God made his presence known. A light breeze came in from nowhere, and a few leaves gently struck the foot of the groom. That'll teach you, you dirty sinners.

I've never felt an earthquake or tornado. There were lots of fires in the summer when I was growing up and "flooding" in Arizona (see: about a foot of water). Other than that, I've been pretty lucky to have not been a part of a major natural disaster.
