Yeah, that's right, Square once made a shmup. They actually used to make stuff that other than RPG's all the time and I miss that younger, risk taking Square. Sure it didn't always work out, but Einhänder was freaking amazing.

All I ever got to play was the demo. It's on the PSN so I think I'll have to pick it up sometime. That demo was so good though that I've never forgotten it and still love this game. Definitely one of the better shmups of that era if you ask me.

So who else has played it? Who didn't even know it existed? How many are still confused by Square making anything that doesn't have the numbers VII, X, and XIII in the title? Does anyone remember this game at all?

I have never even heard of it o.o

TO be fair now, square-enix has been taking on all sorts of non FF titles.

I would be all for Square Enix taking risks if they weren't all just smurfing iOS games. Never heard of Einhänder before but perhaps I confused it with Ergheiz at some point. In any cause, the letter E seems to be quite successful for them, far more than the letter F is being at the moment.

    EDIT:

Are they developed by Square Enix or just published by them?

They see me rolling. They hating, patrolling.
Trying to catch me riding dirty.

I will throw so much money at them if they ever develop a legit sequel. None of that "the third birthday" crap where my beloved Parasite Eve games were dragged through the mud.

I skipped the Third Birthday. I take it that was a good choice?

But yeah, I'm not expecting a sequel anytime soon. Which is a shame because I think there are a lot of old titles Square did which get outside the usual RPG domain that could do well with modern sequels or remakes.

Tell me more, i would love to have sci-fi JRPG with a lot of robots from square, they have a competent art team to make an interesting sci-fi universe.

VII, XIII and Ivalice are the most overused universes not X, while i don't mind it all but what bother me is the fans and how they think we need sequels, remakes and ports because it released back in golden age of RPGs or how Square shouldn't expand to anything that isn't a turnbased RPG, I can't blame Square when i found people hating an arcade game just because it isn't a traditional RPG. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9AJo-5krcc

P.S. T3B was badass game and action was intense, i think it is great game.

Yeah, it was an awkward clunky shooter that didn't really follow the story of the first two games.

Nope, It is no more clunky than PE1 or PE2(ugh) or any 3D game by Square but T3B is like intense "action" game with RTS influence.

    Hah, I'll never forget that.

Einhänder was awesome, and difficult, probably the most difficult game Square ever released. I loved it but to this day I've never finished it.

I remember once I played it at Necronopticous' house. He's way better at it than I.
    I like Kung-Fu.

I once got to play a preview of this (don't remember when). I was allowed to play a single match against a single opponent (don't remember who as or who against). Later, when I'd play Soulcalibur, the two central moves (vertical, horizontal) kind of reminded of this.
    Jack: How do you know?

Will: It's more of a feeling really.

Jack: Well, that's not scientific. Feeling isn't knowing. Feeling is believing. If you believe it, you can't know because there's no knowing what you believe. Then again, no one should believe what they know either. Once you know anything that anything becomes unbelievable if only by virtue of the fact you now... know it. You know?

    Will: No.

If Demolition Man were remade today

Huxley: What's wrong? You broke contact.
Spartan: Contact? I didn't even touch you.
Huxley: Don't you want to make love?
Spartan: Is that what you call this? Why don't we just do it the old-fashioned way?
    Huxley: NO!
    Spartan: Whoa! Okay, calm down.
Huxley: Don't tell me to calm down!
Spartan: What's gotten into you? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't me.
Huxley: Physical relations in the way of intercourse are no longer acceptable John Spartan.
Spartan: What? Why the hell not?
Huxley: It's the law, John. And for your information, the very idea that you suggested it makes me feel personally violated.
Spartan: Wait a minute... violated? Huxley what the hell are you accusing me of here?
Huxley: You need to leave, John.
    Spartan: But Huxley.
    Huxley: Get out!
Moments later Spartan is arrested for "violating" Huxley.

By the way, that's called satire. Get over it.

You're actually thinking of Ehrgeiz which was a fighting game my friend. Don't feel too bad though because sometimes I need to wikipedia it to make sure I've got the titles straight in my head.

This is a thread about Einhander:

No, it was not at all related to SE as I can recall, thinking about it now.

I wonder if was Toshinden before it was actually called Toshinden. Like I said, it was a demo.
