I always thought that was the real reason he joined them. Because he wanted to show off that he was the best blitzer ever. Speaking of, did he never have a connection to his zanarkand abes teammates? He NEVER mentions anyone. You'd think since that was his life that'd he'd mention someone or some game or something. He mentions Zanarkand but no one in it or from it or anything that happened then either. Maybe it's cause he doesn't remember them. o.o Maybe that's a sign of him fading o.o
