    I just found this! It's really neat. =) I encourage everyone here to check it out!

    Edit: I suppose I should probably explain a little bit about what the hack actually is. That'd help lots. :P

    The main reason I found this romhack interesting is because it fixes the spells which originally didn't work how they were intended (or at all), but there are other edits made to it, too. Here are the differences listed on the patch page:

    Elemental magic does 2x (instead of 1.5x) damage against vulnerable enemies (3x if at level 50)
    Some spells switched around; some had effects and/or effectivity altered
    Properties of some weapons and armor altered; some were changed into entirely different things
    Shop inventories modified a bit
    Sanctuary (formerly Clinic) can now heal petrification and poison, in addition to death
    Magic Evasion of most foes lowered to a more reasonable amount
    Enemy groups’ Surprise values now roughly scale with the point in the game in which they are met
    Several area maps altered a bit (mostly cosmetically) and quite a few treasures changed
    A few walk-through-able walls added here and there
    Some towns have a hidden treasure to find
    Two hidden bonus areas added: one accessed from the first town (but only late in the game) and one from the last town, south of the hidden magic shops
    Ship puzzle game now gives 500 Gold (50000 if at level 50)
    All party members always gain experience after battle, even if dead or petrified
    In determining preemptives/ambushes, all party members’ Agility and Luck are considered (rather than only the leader’s); if a Rogue or Ninja is the leader, a minor bonus is given at this time
    Oasis remains after rescuing the Fairy (sells the stat-boosting items)
    Harm (Dia) spells now injure enemies in the “Evil” category as well as the Undead
    You can “shoo” most bats away by talking at them
    Level gains occur more rapidly, especially towards the beginning
    New Game Plus mode added–beat the game to restart with your stats, equipment, spells, and gold intact, but events, treasures, levels, job class, and items reset
    Game altered to run on iNES Mapper 4 instead of 1
    Plenty of other minor changes & one or two surprises
    It doesn't mention it here, but the text is altered, too. From what I played of it, it seems to borrow its script from the PS1 version, but I could be totally wrong. I only played until Garland just to see what the new boss music sounds like.

    It's neat. I highly encourage trying it out!

    The technical error fixes are cool, but a lot of that stuff (being able to save anywhere, Duel-Weild given to Monk, Phoenix Downs, Dia extending to enemy types besides undead, etc.) seems to serve no purpose aside of killing the game's difficulty.

    Looks interesting, but which of the many, many FF1 hacks on romhacking.net does this refer to?

    So uh, how do I play this?

    EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out and felt like a fool. This is truly a joy to play at this point. What people might call it's difficulty was really a barrier for a replay of the original NES; I simply don't have the time to play the original today, and most of the things he fixes just balances it out a bit.

    He should consider making one for 2 and 3 and then I will officially love him.

    Ah, sorry; I should've mentioned. It's GFF: Grond's Final Fantasy.

    The music should be returned to its original pitch. Dropping the whole thing a half-step was a mistake. This has the effect of making it sound muted compared to the original soundtrack.

    I would strongly encourage Grond to reconsider this decision.

    That's true. It actually is pretty annoying from what little bit I played. If it's updated in the future, I really hope that they'll turn the music back.
