The thing about crossing your zeros--they should only be crossed when zero is the only number. Example: You should not cross your zeros in the number 600. You should cross your zero for $0 (if you were counting a drawer or something.) The reason that line is there is that so someone can't add a number before it, and fraud money (turning 0 into 70 or something.) So you know that zero is the true answer.
Some serial numbers have 0's and O's. Some people write their 6's very similar to the 0's and it can get confusing. There are often good reasons for people to cross their 0's. I do it for serial numbers, personally.
