Random question about The Avengers and Samuel Jackson

So, why is it that every actor and actress in the movie is credited even during the credit title sequence, but Samuel Jackson is "and Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury". It's like that on the front of the DVD case and Blu Ray cases as well. I mean hell, its not like he was the big star or anything. Just wondering, it just kinda buggin me

You see that quite a bit with big name stars in relatively small roles. They're always left til the end and given a bit of a bigger name drop.

Yeah, this ^. It's an old tradition in Hollywood. It often goes like:

"With __________ ( <----- big name star )

and __________ ( <------ gigantic name star)."

I'm pretty sure they did this in The Expendables saying something like:

"With Bruce Willis

and Arnold Schwarzenegger"

even though Arnold's cameo is like 5 seconds long.
