She wasn't a real smurf. Gargamel made Smurfette to infiltrate their town so he could spring a trap then eat them. So Smurfette was evil in the beginning, but Papa Smurf's magic made her good or something.

Grandpa Smurf was the oldest living smurf, who returned to the group after a ~500 year long absence. The little red-haired smurf girl was Sassette, who was created by the other Smurflings. So she wasn't "real" either. She also has freckles

why would teachers let us watch such awesome shows and read such awesome magazines (weekly reader, etc) only to not show us the whole series? ;-;
