After a night of drinking I often wake up at 4am unable to go back to bed. I then stumble downstairs to cook.

I always have water besides me, so a good hearty gulp will cure what ails ya.
If I wake up in the middle of the night starving, I'll tell myself I'm SOL until I get out of bed in the morning.
If I am up until 11, 12, 2am or whatever, I am not above going to the grocery store or Jack in the Box or whatever to get food.
Babies.
If I wake up hungry in the middle of the night I deal with it because I cba to take my retainer out and then brush my teeth all over again and put my retainer back in
If I wake up, I just deal with it, because I have enough trouble getting back to sleep without getting up and eating first. If I just happen to be up late, I'll still eat, though.

I don't know why my body is so specifically hungry that that exact time, but it's very strange. Luckily I'm normally asleep during that time. Sleeping keeps me from overeating.

I don't think I've never actually woken up from hunger. Probably because I generally have a snack before I go bed... ice cream and blackcurrant squash before bedtime is heavenly!
Peanut butter on toast is my go to. Also have papa johns in my phone..
