Maybe, right, if you didn't make it plainly obvious that all you want to do is flirt with girls and not actually treat them as people worthy of actual conversation, they might be more responsive to you talking to them. I know that following the implication that I wouldn't be interested in talking to you because I have a boyfriend, made me very aware that you only want to talk to girls who you have a "chance" with, not that you want to talk to girls to be friends.
