Let's Play Pokemon!!

So I'm bored and need to distract myself from studying for finals, so seeing as it's Pokemon December, I decided I'll play through Pokemon Crystal version. Not only that I'll dedicate this thread to a Lets Play style, where I shall periodically post up my progress with *attempted* witty humor! Not only that it would be too boring by itself, so I decided I shall leave the fate of my pokemon trainer in your hands EoFF!



You'll be in charge of naming my pokemon, and even deciding what team I'll be using! The way this will work is that you will bicker amongst yourselves to figure out a team of pokemon I will use against the current gym based on pokemon I can reasonably obtain at that point in the game. In the case of too many requests for who is on my team, I'll go with the people who make the most amusing reasoning for a particular pokemon.

So then, here comes the big main beginning point,
-Am I a boy or a girl?
-Who is my starter?
-What pokemon will I fight Falkner with?
-What will I name all of them?

You can't catch Mareep in crystal version (or at least not where they are in Gold/Silver), and definitely not before Falkner.

So I'll need a different team to tackle him with.

Also, you should name a Pokemon Locky.

Well it looks like I got suggestions for 3 pokemon thus far. I'm still open to any names for my rival, else he shall forever be stuck with the classical 'Douche'.

The question is: Why would you want to play Crystal, when HeartGold and SilverSoul are basically superior, upgraded, versions? Crystal is the best of the "old" games, though.

Because I'm feeling nostalgic, and I imagine Nintendo gets more anal when you play a rom of a more recent game they still make money off of.

The anti-piracy in HG/SS are actually pretty interesting, but there's still like a million different patches for it so there aint no excuse for being a crappy cheapass.

And I rejected your ideas at this point. That and I already started my game up because of impatience. >.> Plus a game of Dunsparce only is pretty boring, same with any solo challenge, well except the being Joey and his top percentage of Rattata challenge. >.>

I then begin my journey to capture the team told to me by destiny to obtain, starting with...



Now I'm off to find me a Geodude and train my team while I take more suggestions for my 3 remaining pokemon for my first badge.
