Who would have thought that Eyes on Final Fantasy would be here, celebrating its 13th birthday? It seems like only yesterday that I was a fresh faced pre-teen looking for some pictures of chocobos for an assignment. I lurked for a time, and then joined and posted for a time, always observing the other members - most notably the Staff members. For the Cid's Knights were always a shining symbol of something grand, something to aspire toward. The Site Staff, unfortunately, were the ugly stepchild, known only as lazy slackers whose actual work was underappreciated.

Time went on and I became more active. Staff came and went, got promotions and took hiatuses. There was something magical about the idea of being a staff member at Eyes on Final Fantasy. I don't know what it is. I still don't understand. By rights, we should abhor the idea; how desperately nerdy can you be? But there is that force, attracting members to the prestige.

The old ways are over. We stand on the precipice of fate. The leaders of tomorrow are not made of the same flesh and bone as the old staff. No, they must be made of more. They must have that missing ingredient, the heart required to stand up and take charge of EoFF and lead it to a new dawn.

The Most Likely To Be A CK/Editor Ciddie is an important award. It has absolutely no bearing on who receives knightship, nor who is welcomed into the editor clan. But it does give members a sign that they are on the right path.

I don't want to talk about our candidates. They are good members, and deserving of their nominations. But I want to talk about more than people, I want to talk about an idea. I want to talk to you about what the future of staff entails. I feel it is important for us all to understand where we are heading. It's a journey we are all taking together, after all.

Previously, staff has been segregated. The Forums Staff standing opposite the Site Staff. There were always crossovers, but never unity.

That is the dream.

The future of staff is a united front. Working together is not simply enough. Staff will be one solid unit, moving with efficiency and precision. Through the vigilance, dedication and passion of the Eyes on Final Fantasy staff, we will endure until the end of time, growing rather than shrinking. We will not simply keel over and die as so many communities have over time. We will last forever, because we will rise to the challenges before us.

Many of you have already spoken to me, expressing interest in aiding EoFF in one way or another. It is only through your support that we have a chance. You are the staff of the future, with or without a title. We're all in this together, team.

It's time for us, as Roogle would say, to embrace our destiny.
