Going to go with helpful as in "contributing to EoFF" rather than saving kittens from a starving wolf. I don't have enough time to come up with anything funny, so I'll just enumerate each candidate's contributions
The Candidates:
Goldenboko: All over the Events Committee, lots of frontsite articles, and the EoFF Best of the Week make Gobo a strong contender.
Jiro: Mafia, Ciddies, lots of frontsite articles, captain for WILTY?, basically anything that is an event has Jiro's participation
Loony BoB: Consistently running the Ciddies year after year, pioneering the FF Ciddies.
Mirage: I seriously have no idea. My read on Mirage is "random funny dude"
Pike: A new topic every day keeps GC nice and active
Quinter Wonderland: Might not run events, but participates in a lot of them, and events need participation to work.
Rantz: Fixes everything before I get a chance to get a good heckle in.
Samuraid: Any time there's something Rantz can't fix, call in Samuraid. It's the EoFF equivalent of calling in an airstrike.
Shorty: Another EC activity driver who also keeps topics active in GC.
The Man: Underrated. Freedo's got a solid foundation in technical knowhow that goes largely untapped at EoFF.
Wolf Kanno: Fabulously erudite, and always dropping some science on our asses. Loved the articles on Square-Enix staffers.
