Right at the start of the 80s, I think it was. It never occurred to me to ask for specifics about where in Tibet he was. Could be interesting to get a more detailed story one day, though!

Man, that would've been the coolest kind of tale. When did he first tell you about it, do you remember?
I imagine I must've heard it pretty early on in some basic form, although I can't remember specifically. A wild guess would be around age 4-5 when I asked about a prayer... thingy... that he brought back. I can't find a translation of its name.
Edit: One of these thingies.

Edit2: Takkun helped me out - it's called a prayer wheel!

Does anybody else have any questions then? I don't know what else I can ask. Judging from the times all mentioned your father would've missed the serious issues in Tibet, which would explain why he could receive such a light punishment, and you wouldn't have heard about it until at least '92 at which point I blinked into existence completely unaware of all the events that transpired prior to it so I have no smurfing idea and cannot help but feel I'm not quite the guy who should be in charge.
I don't know what else I can say to convince you! I doubt these cases are very common but I have heard of other cases of whole families being deported/banned from entry by China before, for what it's worth. Although, being the guy in the "hotseat", I don't suppose that's very much.
I doubt there is much else I could probe from you anyway. I'll give my team mates a chance to weigh in and hope they might deduce something greater from you.
Well, the 24 hours are up, I believe, but they can still weigh in on the decision of course.
Well, Bleys himself hasn't said as much yet, so...
Have you ever wanted to go to China?
Jack: How do you know?
Will: It's more of a feeling really.
Jack: Well, that's not scientific. Feeling isn't knowing. Feeling is believing. If you believe it, you can't know because there's no knowing what you believe. Then again, no one should believe what they know either. Once you know anything that anything becomes unbelievable if only by virtue of the fact you now... know it. You know?
Will: No.
If Demolition Man were remade today
Huxley: What's wrong? You broke contact.
Spartan: Contact? I didn't even touch you.
Huxley: Don't you want to make love?
Spartan: Is that what you call this? Why don't we just do it the old-fashioned way?
Huxley: NO!
Spartan: Whoa! Okay, calm down.
Huxley: Don't tell me to calm down!
Spartan: What's gotten into you? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't me.
Huxley: Physical relations in the way of intercourse are no longer acceptable John Spartan.
Spartan: What? Why the hell not?
Huxley: It's the law, John. And for your information, the very idea that you suggested it makes me feel personally violated.
Spartan: Wait a minute... violated? Huxley what the hell are you accusing me of here?
Huxley: You need to leave, John.
Spartan: But Huxley.
Huxley: Get out!
Moments later Spartan is arrested for "violating" Huxley.
By the way, that's called satire. Get over it.
If I'm being honest, time zones are playing a factor in how late I am in posting! Nevermind...
Anyway, was your dad ever given like some offical paper which says "BANNED FROM CHINA" or something essentially to that effect? If this immediate banning was true, there must have been some paperwork saying it.
Was your dad ever given papers?
I don't mind answering more!
Sure, there are lots of places there I've often wanted to go. But eh, I don't feel like it's a huge problem. It's not like I'm gonna have time/money to visit all the places I want to anyway.
Yeah, I know he was given papers, although I've never seen them, and to be honest, I don't know how "official" they are. I don't know how thorough they can even be when checking up on who enters the country - it might just be some scare tactic that they don't actually follow up on. But I'm not about to find out. xD
China using scare tactics? Never!
I'm abit perplexed. If the Chinese authorities were going to deport and ban someone and their entire family, I'm fairly certain they might as well go all the way, not just pretend and be done with it. It sounds too soft for China.
Were it up to me, I'd be tempted to go for a lie. Still, what do I know?
Geez, the one time I take a personal day and people get impatient
##Vote: Lie
