Synesthesia

I've stated many times on this forum that I have synesthesia. For those of you who aren't sure what synesthesia is: Synesthesia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

I wasprobably 12 or 13 when I first heard what synesthesia is. I remember thinking, "So what?" I literally thought everyone was like this. For me, personally, sounds and spoken words have colours and patterns, as well words I think. (When I read, I see the words in colour in my head, but I can distinguish the proper colour words are written in.)

Are there any other synesthetes on this forum? If so, what kind of synesthesia do you have? Do you enjoy it, or does it bother you?

I was going to make a joke about the language I use being quite colourful at times but figured that'd probably be in bad taste so instead I have opted to ramble and not make it instead.

So, no. I don't suffer from it - although synesthete sounds cool but if it makes your eyes burn as much as reading that post did for me than it's really not cool at all.

At the same time it's fascinating though.

To answer your question, I don't have it, though I'm sure if I did I'd get used to it somehow. It would probably be very annoying at first, but like most things in life, I'd get used to seeing things in colours.

There wasn't every a "getting used to" phase. I've been like this since a child. Things have always had colour.

The only annoying things with my eyes are the little black dots or thin black lines I sometimes see.

Certain musical melodies and riffs evoke movement and action to me, which translate into pictures in my head, but I don't know if that counts. It might just be a creative person thing. Who knows!

I honestly didn't even know it was a thing until this thread prompted me to Google about it. I just assumed it's something everyone experiences and was due to light penetrating through the eyelid in a diffused form but apparently it's not.
