Automats?

I had never heard about this until of friend of mine mentioned it to me today.

According to Wiki:



"An automat is a fast food restaurant where simple foods and drink are served by coin-operated and bill-operated vending machines."

I am blown away. I want to visit one badly. Do people go there to eat? A place you don't have to deal with annoying people behind the counters?

Please tell me about this stunning revelation.
