Here's something to think about. Why do we drive on the parkway yet park on the driveway?

Freeway is a California thing? It's used in other places I've lived. Maybe a west thing?

Never heard anyone in person actually use freeway. Highway or the number(95, 76, etc.). Heard it on the news before though. XD

Around here (philly), freeway is like a synonym for parkway. Also when I lived in pittsburgh I-376 was occasionally called THE freeway.
